Assignment 1- Your Favorite Film

Briefly describe your favorite film, and detail the reasons why this film is your favorite.  Do not summarize the entire film.  "Briefly describe" means to tell the plot of the movie in 2 or 3 sentences.  Do not give away too much of the movie in your description, because you don't want to ruin it (SPOILER ALERT) for someone who hasn't seen it yet.

The majority of this post needs to be your OPINION.  Describe what makes this movie your favorite.  Don't use general statements like, "it is funny."  Use more descriptive and imaginative terms, and then give specific examples from the film to support your opinion.

Blog entries need to be a minimum of 250 words.  Write using proper grammar, punctuation, and spelling (use spellcheck!).  Don't indent for new paragraphs, but separate paragraphs with a space.

When you have finished and published this assignment on your blog, write a comment on this entry telling me that you are done.

The student with the best blog entry will have their favorite film shown in class (provided that it is school appropriate).

Introduction to Film Appreciation

Throughout the course of this class you will be watching and analyzing different aspects of different films. You will be giving your opinions on specific elements in these films(critical movie reviews). You will also be writing movie reviews for new films that you see during this trimester.

You will be typing these reviews and posting them on your own blog. At the end of the trimester, your blog will be filled with all of the assignments necessary to receive credit and a grade in this class. If you do not complete all of the assignments your grade will suffer and you will receive less than 5 credits.
